Crowbar: “Archive Metal… In Its Purest Form”

“Archive Metal… In Its Purest Form” from Crowbar is released on 6 July 2018 as a 3CD Box Set through ‘Store For Music’ [Cat No SFMBOX008].  Crowbar helped create a new sound, and their live shows were legendary.  “Archive Metal… In Its Purest Form” features key albums from this pioneering band covering the period 1998 – 2001.

An American sludge metal band formed in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1990. Crowbar were contemporaries within the infamous New Orleans heavy metal scene of such acts as Eyehategod, Soilent Green, Acid Bath and Down, their work blending the best of the menacing doom metal sound with a limitless punk aggression.  Their muscular riffs and gruff vocals are probably amongst the most instantly recognisable combinations in sludge metal, but they are also known for covering other band’s material and putting a heavy spin on it. Check out covers of Gary Wright’s “Dream Weaver” on the Equilibrium album and Iron Maiden’s “Remember Tomorrow” on Odd Fellows Rest.
