Deep Purple

Phoenix Rising ? 4 Formats

“Phoenix Rising” from Deep Purple is released on 23 May 2011 via Edel’s international rock label, earMUSIC distributed in the UK & Republic of Ireland by Absolute via Universal. Coming in four formats, all offering previously unreleased material, this release truly serves to fill a gap in any fan of this seminal band’s collection; truly this is the best of Deep Purple MKIV (Bolin-Lord-Paice-Coverdale-Hughes).

The centrepiece of these releases is the 30 minute-long live footage filmed in 16mm in Japan and restored in HD. Never before released – not even on bootlegs ? it was originally planned to be included in a Deep Purple film however this was never released (following Tommy Bolin’s death). The stunning video quality would make the viewer believe this is a full HD production and certainly belies its 1976 origin. A longer audio version taken from the show also features in these releases.

The Blu-ray and DVD formats offer the “Rises Over Japan: Live” concert footage and the “Getting Tighter” documentary. Additionally both the DVD and Blu-ray formats are packaged with the entire live CD [with the Blu-ray also offering all 8 tracks as WAV files]. As bonuses, we include the “Come Taste The Band” 2010 Reissue EPK and additional vintage material not used for the documentary. The CD + DVD format offers the full live CD audio plus a DVD of “Rises Over Japan: Live”, the “Get Tighter” documentary and all the bonuses. There is also a 2×12″ vinyl + DVD format.

‘Rises Over Japan: Live’: 01.Burn/02.Love Child/03.Smoke On The Water (including Georgia)/04.You Keep On Moving / 05.Highway Star
CD (live): 01.Burn/02.Getting Tighter/03.Love Child/04.Smoke On The Water (including Georgia)/05.Lazy/06.Homeward Strut/07.You Keep On Moving / 08.Stormbringer

“Getting Tighter” is the full length 90 minute documentary of the story behind Deep Purple after Ian Gillan and Roger Glover’s departures. Jon Lord and Glenn Hughes discuss the “post Gillan” years, through previously unseen live images, backstage footage, never before told stories and video material collected through the years. This is a real dream come true for all Deep Purple fans with new inside stories and the truths about the dark sides of Deep Purple during this period. ? earMUSIC is a project of Edel ? Contact:
