Kevin Costner & Modern West

Third Studio Album

The third album from Kevin Costner & Modern West is released on 19 September 2011 via Edel’s international rock label, earMUSIC distributed in the UK & Republic of Ireland by Absolute via Universal. “From Where I Stand” was recorded in just a few days in the legendary Blackbird Studios of Nashville, where legends like Bruce Springsteen, rock acts such as The White Stripes and pop stars like the Black Eyed Peas have recorded. The album features 10 brand new tracks including the rousing single “Let Go Tonight” which features none other than the German pop superstar Nena. “She gave the song something very special,” Costner says.

This is no vanity project from an Oscar-winning movie star. Costner is a wonderfully talented rock/country musician and for this is his band’s third album. Kevin Costner & Modern West have distilled the adrenalin and passion evinced during their world tour and generated songs that have a pure rock ‘n’ roll essence. There were no concerns about the “difficult third album” during recording sessions that were only faced with one problem ? they had to be coordinated with Costner’s “day job”! “We developed the ideas during every free moment we had, at Kevin’s home or in his caravan on set. Wherever he happened to be,” Coinman explains.

This is a band with character and with a pedigree. Whilst their debut album “Untold Truth” (2008) was clearly influenced by the American music tradition, its successor “Turn It On” (2009) already tended towards earthy roots rock. This time, with “From Where I Stand”, Kevin Costner, guitarist John Coinman, guitarist and producer Teddy Morgan, guitarist and keyboardist Park Chisolm, bassist Blair Forward and drummer Larry Cobb have clearly focused on rock ‘n’ roll. “After all, we don’t want to record the same record over and over again,” they all agree, “So we decided to explore some new territory.”

Whatever one thinks of Kevin Costner the actor is irrelevant when turning on “From Where I Stand”. This is simply the sound of some great musicians doing what they love. ? earMUSIC is a project of Edel ? Contact:
