Carl Palmer

First UK tour in 6 Years

Carl Palmer is delighted to announce that he is returning to live concert action in the UK after a break of nearly 6 years, with a series of 10 headline shows across the UK in November and December 2011 – tickets are on sale now. Carl Palmer is the dynamic drummer and percussionist whose famously technical and [initially] Jazz infused style can be heard on some of the landmark recordings in British Rock. He worked with the biggest names in the business and his versatility helped define what we understand by Progressive Rock and becoming known as the “Drummer’s Drummer”.

Cutting his teeth with The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Palmer then formed a new band Atomic Rooster, with whom he recorded just one album. He hit the big time with his subsequent teaming up with Greg Lake and Keith Emerson, which resulted in the globally-renowned mega-group ELP. The band went on to record a series of albums which are still regarded as touchstones for Progressive Rock. They picked up 9 gold sales awards in the UK alone and it is the work from 1971’s live album ‘Pictures At An Exhibition’ that Palmer will largely be returning to for this UK tour. He commented, “Whilst I will also dip into some of my other repertoire, from my dialogue with the fans, I have put together the set that seems best to represent what they want to hear now.” After ELP went their separate ways, Carl Palmer continued his incredible trajectory by teaming up with and forming Asia, the massively successful supergroup [with Geoff Downes, John Wetton and Steve Howe] who remain sporadically active.
