Jon Lord

With Pictures – reissued and revamped

Jon Lord re-issues his 2003 DVD “With Pictures” on 7 November 2011 via Edel’s international rock label, earMUSIC distributed in the UK & Republic of Ireland by Absolute via Universal. This brand new version now comes packaged with a brand new documentary from 2011, as well as never before seen pictures, interviews and live performances from around the world. We also include the 28-page tour book from 2011.

The ‘With Pictures’ documentary itself is a 90 minute film that was shot in Australia on Jon Lord’s first solo tour and took a candid look at his reasons for departing from Deep Purple, discussed his current work and of course future plans. It is without doubt his most personal and revealing interview. This film is now bolstered by a brand new 30 minute interview filmed this year. Additionally, the re-issue features an unplugged performance with the Gemini Band filmed at the Zermatt festival in 2008. Also included are a broad range of other live performances including one in Cologne with ABBA’s Anni-Frid Lyngstad from 2004, work with Deep Purple [of course!], with the Blues band The Hoochie Coochie Men. Also featured are The Queensland Orchestra, Jimmy Barnes and the Australian band George [under the guidance of the conductor Paul Mann]. Mann and Lord are also interviewed together about their mutual approach to music and performance. Additionally there is a wonderful archival photomontage relating to the famous Deep Purple concerto performance with Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 1969.
