Over a career spanning 12 albums and countless live performances, Savatage became a band of staggering power and limitless creativity. Formed by Jon and Criss Oliva in the early ’80s, Savatage quickly established itself at the cutting edge of the hard rock world. Tempering savage metal attacks with haunting orchestrations and a distinctive melodic sense, the band pushed the artistic envelope of their genre and, in the process, garnered a large worldwide following. The unexpected death of guitarist Criss Oliva who was hit and killed by a drunk driver in 1993 shattered the band. Savatage continued on with various line-ups but on their 25th anniversary in 2007, Jon Oliva announced the definite breakup of Savatage. He concludes, “I’m so excited to give the fans the proper representation of all these albums. For them to be able to own them as they were meant to be heard and seen makes me very happy.” ? earMUSIC is a project of Edel ? Contact:
