Debut album announced
SHY: out April 2015
Stacey Solomon is delighted to announce that her long-awaited debut album ‘Shy’ will be released in April 2015 through Conehead. It has been six years since she burst onto the scene – and into the British public’s hearts – on 2009’s X Factor Series. Since then she has spent her time bringing up her young children, becoming one of the most recognised faces on British TV, famously winning I’m A Celebrity in 2010, and recently competing in The Jump. As well as all that she has, of course, been concentrating on getting the music for the album just right. She said, “Making this album the best it can be has been hard work but so rewarding; I can’t wait for people to hear it. I’m so proud of it”. The first single from the album is also entitled ‘Shy’, was co-written by Rita Ora and will be released on 2 March.
As well as Rita Ora, the 11-track album features a contribution from Lily Allen, but much of the material has been written by Stacey herself. Having been approached to record the ‘typical’ post X Factor album by the major labels, Stacey wanted rather to develop her skills as a writer and a singer further and create something more genuine – on her own terms – to truly reflect her personality and her true musical talent and artistic style. After all Stacey’s fans know just who she is, and so does she… Still only 25, Stacey has already enjoyed the kind of musical success that many dream of – her first appearances on the X Factor led her on to be part of a joint number one single and participate in an arena tour. Everything has been leading up to the release of ‘Shy’ however, and Stacey is truly excited. “I’ve had the opportunity to do some amazing things over the past few years, and I’m so grateful, but first and foremost I’m a singer. This album may have been a long time coming but I love it!”
2015 sees not only the release of the album but also Stacey active in a huge range of diverse projects. As well as starring in Channel 4’s The Jump, Stacey is releasing a new fragrance and also publishing her first novel. Famed for her disarming charm, her unique take on the world and a simple no nonsense appeal, she has become a household name. It is however as a singer that Stacey first wowed the public and ‘Shy’ shows just why. From start to finish the album is powered along by her glorious vocals, it may have been a long time coming but it’s been worth the wait.
