Status Quo – Christmas Single

Quo’s first ever Christmas
single is their 75th UK single!

STATUS QUO release their first ever Christmas single on 8 December 2008 and it’s an instant classic! “It’s Christmas Time” will be around for years to come, refusing to go away and entertaining lovers of great rock music ? a bit like the band really. Penned by Rick Parfitt, and released through UMTV, “It’s Christmas Time” is the band’s 75th UK single; a simply staggering achievement.

As well as being released in its own right, “It’s Christmas Time” also features on the forthcoming retrospective album “Pictures: 40 Years Of Hits” which is released on 3 November 2008 and certain to appear under a huge number of the nation’s Christmas trees this year.

The “It’s Christmas Time” single will be released as a strictly limited edition, numbered seven inch picture disc, as a CD single and will be available for download. The seven inch single features a medley of “Pictures Of Matchstick Men” and “Ice In The Sun” recorded in Oxford in October 2008. The CD version features the ‘Quo-eoke’ version of “It’s Christmas Time” plus a live version of “Beginning Of The End” – which was Quo’s last UK single – also recorded at Oxford.

Rick Parfitt explains that, “Everyone seems to think that Quo have done Christmas singles before but we never have and, after forty years, we thought we should. It’s always been my favourite time of the year and we wanted to bring out some of the old Christmas spirit. Another motivation was to try and keep ‘X Factor’ off the top spot but now it looks like it might be the comedians we have to watch out for!”

Whoever wins the race for the coveted Christmas top spot, one thing is for certain, with this their 75th single Quo have turned out yet another belter; as we’re sure Yule agree?
